We were recently contacted by a customer who had a blocked drain that they couldn’t clear on their own. Water wasn’t draining properly, and the problem was getting worse. We visited the property to find out what was going on. After inspecting the area, we discovered that the drainpipes were made of cast iron and had started to break down due to age. This was the main reason the drain had become blocked.
Old pipes like these can crack, rust, and build up debris inside, which eventually leads to blockages. We explained this to the customer and recommended removing the damaged cast iron pipework. We also advised installing brand-new pipework and fitting a new gully (a special drain cover that helps catch water and keep the area clean).
Since the customer also had an issue with a mains water pipe, we made a quick, temporary repair to the water main on the same day. This stopped any leaks and kept things safe until we could return.
When we came back the following day to complete the full job. Once removed the old pipes and installed strong, modern ones that will last much longer. We also fitted the new gully to improve drainage and help prevent future blockages.
By the end of the second day, the work was complete and the blocked drain problem was fully solved. The customer was very pleased with the results and happy to have a proper drainage system again.
